Need suggestions on a colorful summer garden design!

I am redesigning my backyard and I would like to utilise Gladiolus as a backdrop to some of the shorter perennials. I have been browsing the abodelook in the section of the green collection, which is all inspirational, yet I have trouble with color mixes. Does it have any favorite type that will look good with white flowers or lavender? I desire that hooligan but deliberate feel.
